Bring your Painting Group

Finca el Cerrillo makes an ideal base for a small painting group (8 - 26) to enjoy a memorable painting holiday: It offers hotel style accommodation with a house-party atmosphere.

We offer tutors and group leaders a lot of support in organising transport, meals out; excursions etc. so that you are free to concentrate on delivering your course content. We have many groups who return year after year.

Group leaders who bring 10/12 or more paying participants enjoy a free place - please ask for more details.

The Finca has 14 spacious rooms that can all be used for double, twin or single occupancy. (In the winter months, it may be possible to offer a date with no single supplement).

The Studio is light and airy with air-conditioning to ensure a comfortable temperature year-round. It leads onto a courtyard patio which can be used as extra studio space for those who want to paint outdoors. There are also mature gardens surrounding the Finca and lots of shady terrace areas where you can sit to paint.

We have portable easels, stools and drawing boards for participants to use. Materials can be supplied at cost but please discuss requirements in advance.

Painting in different locations away from the Finca can also be arranged. There is a local beauty spot nearby with rock pools and shady trees. In good weather, it makes a good place to set up for a morning's painting or drawing - we deliver a picnic lunch to the site. The only extra cost for this is a few euros per person for the transport. The local 'white' villages also make picturesque bases for working away from the Finca and again, we can organise taxi transport for those who want to do this. Depending on numbers, cost is about 5-10€ per head.

Meals are served outdoors whenever possible. Breakfast is served buffet style and lunch is usually a light salad buffet or home-made soup & sandwiches. Five lunches are included in our catered package so that you have some flexibility to have a day out.

Dinner is served on four or five evenings at the Finca, prepared by our own chef using fresh, local produce. On other evenings we arrange for your group to have dinner at a good quality restaurant in one of our local villages. Transport to and from the restaurant is included - some groups like to take advantage of this transport to do some pre-dinner sketching in the villages. We can cater for most dietary requirements with a little notice. Our food is highly acclaimed! See Food & Drink page.

There are a number of excursions that we can help you arrange. The Alhambra Palace in Granada, Picasso museum in Malaga and the sea-side town of Nerja all make excellent days out. Cost depends on the numbers who want to go e.g. Private minibus transport to Nerja for 10 people costs about 25€ per head.

The Alhambra Palace in Granada (2 hours journey) costs about 50€ per person for 10 people. NB. Alhambra tickets must be booked 3 months ahead.

Airport transfers are included in our Group rates (this assumes the Group will arrive together to take advantage of a mini-bus transfer). Taxis can be arranged for those who arrive at different times to the main group but the cost of this will be at the client's own expense - €70 per taxi each way.

I want to bring my Group - how do I go about it?

Our most popular package is a fully catered package that includes airport transfers and use of the Studio. We give you a price for each person and you are then free to add your own fee to the price the student pays. If you would like a different arrangement, please ask Alison or Sue for a quote.

Group leaders who bring a minimum 10/12 (12 in peak months) paying participants enjoy a free place - please ask for more details.

It can be difficult knowing how to manage a Group Booking - at what point should your students book flights? What about deposits? Below we give our suggestion for a practical way to organise your Holiday.

Step One
Contact Alison or Sue at Finca el Cerrillo info@hotelfinca.com (0034 952 030 444) to discuss dates and availability. If you decide to go ahead with a provisional booking, we will pencil in an agreed number of rooms for you and a date by which you will make the booking firm.
This is usually a 4 - 6 week period.
Step Two
You contact your group members and take a returnable deposit in sterling of £150 per person + your own fee. Set a date by which students need to have confirmed with a deposit. You can collect cheques from your students or collect the monies via bank transfers. Remember that your fees will need to cover the cost of your own flights.
If you do not get sufficient numbers to make the holiday viable you return the deposit and fees in full. Assuming that you do have sufficient interest, you keep the fee element and pay the total of all the £150 deposits into our Spanish bank account on the agreed date. Our Spanish bank will calculate the amount received in euros according to the exchange rate on the day the monies enter our account. The balance due will be the cost of the holiday less the euro equivalent of the £150 deposit.

At that point your booking becomes firm. We suggest that you tell each participant to take out travel insurance at the point of booking to cover cancellation due to sickness or accident.

Your group members can now book their flights. It is a good idea for you to identify a suitable flight from your regional airport and tell your participants to book this as soon as possible. This will ensure you all arrive together to share an airport transfer. The cost we quote assumes you will all travel together from Malaga airport to the Hotel. Arrivals at other times will incur extra transport costs so please stress the importance of finding suitable flight times.
Step Three
The balance is due 8 weeks before your arrival. We will tell you the amount due. This is calculated by deducting the euro equivalent of the deposit already paid. The balance payments can be collected and paid over in the same way as the deposits (i.e. you collect the balances and pay them all over to us via a bank transfer or card payment) OR you can ask each participant to contact us with their credit or debit card details to pay the balance direct.

We ask you to also collect information about any dietary requirements or special requests (e.g. ground floor room).

On the day of arrival, you will be met at Malaga airport (by taxi or mini-bus depending on numbers) and start your one hour journey to Finca el Cerrillo.
